Eine neue Idee war geboren! Es war noch zu der Zeit, wo wir „oben ohne“ rumliefen und kulturelle Veranstaltungen noch stattfinden konnten. Eine Zeit ohne Maske und Corona. In einer meiner Tarot-Workshops kam die Idee zustande, ein 'Wuppertarot' zu kreieren. Ganz einfach: mit Dröppelminnas, Textil-Spindeln, Zöppken und Taler, so waschecht bergisch halt!
Pille Palle wurde es getauft, was im Bergisch Platt „einfach oder simple“ bedeuted. Das Deck ist nicht nur ein traditionelles, herkömmliches Tarot, sondern auch eine
Zeitreise durch unsere Geschichte.
A new idea was born! It was still at the time when we were walking around "topless" and events could still take place at any given time. A routine without masks and corona. In one of my tarot workshops the idea came up to create a 'Wuppertarot' (Wupper is the river in my hometown region) with traditional features like Dröppelminnas (bergisch samovars), Spindles (typical for the textil industy in the region), Zöppken (a typical mountain region knife) and Taler (coins). I named it Pill Palle, which means "simple" in Bergisch dialect. The deck is not only a traditional, conventional tarot, but also a time travel through history.
Jede Karte erzählt von den Besonderheiten unserer Wupperregion, angefangen in Leverkusen über die 'Bergischen drei' bis Marienheide. Von den Erfindergeistern, den Pionieren, den Politkerinnen und Philosophen bis hin zum Bergischen "Robin Hood" und Tante Hanna. Von Kaiser und Trompeten, bis Kriegsverbrecher und Propheten, decken die Karten Stück für Stück ein Teil unserer Vergangenheit auf.
Each card tells of the special features of the Wupper region, starting in Leverkusen through the 'Bergisch three cities' all the way to Marienheide. From inventors, pioneers and politicians to the Bergisch "Robin Hood" and Aunty Hanna, from emperors and trumpets to war criminals and prophets, the cards reveal a part of our history bit by bit.
Wusstet ihr zum Beispiel dass Heroin hier erfunden und hergestellt wurde, aber auch die Raufasertapete, der Fleischwolf, die erste Telefonzelle und die Krankenversicherung? Ja,....und natürlich die Schwebebahn....... Hier ein toller historischer Clip der Schwebebahn, der kürzlich in New Yorks schönstem Museum für Modern Art präsentiert wurde:
Did you know, for example, that heroin was invented and manufactured here, but also the woodchip wallpaper, the meat grinder, the first telephone booth and health insurance? The first german theosophical society, the NSDAP's (Nazi party) first office and the manufacturer of Aspirin was founded here. And Yes, .... of course the suspension railway .......!!!

Oftmals begleitet von Sinnsprüchen, sind die eindrucksvollen Pille Palle Karten im poppigen „Vintage-Look“ ein Sammelsurium von Bildern, Photos, Ikonen und Emblemen der Geschichten, die etwas über die Gründer, Revolutionäre, Philosophen, Kämpferinnen, Künstler und Gelehrten aus der Bergischen Region verraten. Wo kam Tuffi der Elephant her, und wer ist Sulamith Wülfing? Was hat Helene Stöcker gemacht und welche Spuren hat Johannes Rau hinterlassen?
Often accompanied by quotes, the impressive and pop like Pille Palle cards in "vintage look" are a hodgepodge of images, photos, icons, emblems and stories that reveal something about the founders, revolutionaries, philosophers, fighters, artists and scholars from the historical Bergisch region. Where did Tuffy the elephant come from and who was Sulamith Wülfing? What did Helene Stöcker do and what traces did politician Johannes Rau leave behind?
Von Engels bis Pina Bausch, von Firma Goldzack bis Bayer offenbaren die Wupperkarten einen Teil unserer Geschichte.
Gefüllt mit reichhaltiger Symbolik und traditionellen Tarot Archetypen, kann auch dieses Deck als Legespiel zum Tarotlesen und zur Reflektion angewendet werden.
From Engels to Pina Bausch, from factory Goldzack to multinational Bayer, the Wupper cards reveal part of our history, beautiful and ugly. Rich in symbolism and still keeping traditional tarot archetypes, this deck can be used for tarot readings and reflection.

Durch die wunderbare Zusammenarbeit mit der 3D Druck Firma Excit3D, stellen wir bald die spielerische Pille Palle Tarot App vor, die speziell zu diesem Deck entwickelt wird. Thanks to the wonderful collaboration with the 3D printing company Excit3D, we will soon be introducing the Pille Palle Tarot App, which is specially developed for this deck.
Interaktiv kann man so, mit oder ohne dem echten haptischen Kartendeck, die Hintergründe jeder einzelnen Karte verstehen lernen, sowie spezielle 3D Effekte erleben, die die Hauptfiguren der Karten lebendig machen und im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes, in den Vordergrund stellen.

With or without the real haptic deck of cards, you can interactively learn to understand the background of each individual card, as well as experience special 3D effects that bring the main characters of the cards to life and, in the truest sense of the word, bring them to the fore.
