Yamasong ist ein Animation- und Puppenfilm aus dem Jahr 2017 von Filmemacher Sam Koji Hale aus L.A.
Nani (im Original gesprochen von Abigail Breslin) ist ein maschinell betriebener Android in Form eines kleinen Mädchens. Sie begibt sich mit einer kampferprobten Schildkröte und einer Gruppe von Banditen auf eine gefährliche Mission: Sie suchen ein sagenumwobenes Relikt, das die einzige Hoffnung gegen eine Roboterarmee bedeutet. Diese ist im Begriff, die Fantasiewelt samt ihrer Bewohner zu vernichten.
Der Animationsfilm von Sam Koji Hale wurde mit echten Handpuppen realisiert und ist die Fortsetzung des preisgekrönten Kurzfilms Yamasong von 2010.
Neben Abigail Breslin übernahmen weitere Stars Sprechrollen, beispielsweise Whoopi Goldberg und Malcolm McDowell, Nathan Fillion, Freida Pinto und viele mehr.
In 2015 wurde Yvette Endrijautzki beauftragt ein Set Design für Yamasong zu entwerfen und produzieren.
Im Februar 2019 lief der Film Yamasong in den amerikanischen Kinos an.

Yamasong: March of the Hollows is the feature length follow-up to the short film, Yamasong. Directed by Sam Koji Hale, and executive produced by Heather Henson and Toby Froud (Labyrinth), a recap explains that Nani escaped the prison in the short and returned, no longer completely machine but with a patchwork heart. The beat of that heart is what sends the prison moon plummeting to Yamasong, the planet the Hollows were trying to conquer and now want to conquer again. Boasting a massive head that’s reflective of her stature, Nani’s mother, Yuri (Whoopi Goldberg), leads the charge against Yamasong, but Nani knows her tactics are wrong and teams up with a terrapin friend, Shojun (Nathan Fillion), to try and stop her.
“Yamasong: March of Hollows” continues in the epic puppet storytelling tradition of “Dark Crystal” with a strong dose of Studio Ghibli’s “Princess Mononoke.”
Dark Dunes Productions has partnered with filmmaker Sam Koji Hale to bring this fantastical puppet vision to life.

March of the Hollows is the feature length sequel to the original, award-winning short film Yamasong. Bringing this film to life is an incredible cast including Nathan Fillion and Abigail Breslin as the film’s leads Shojun and Nani, joined by Whoopi Goldberg, Malcolm McDowell, Bruce Davison, Freida Pinto, George Takei, Peter Weller and Ed Asner.
In 2015, Yvette Endrijautzki was commissioned to design and produce a set design for Yamasong. In February 2019, the full length feature was released in the US movie theater and is now available as DVD or you can stream the movie online!
